January 2013

It snowed in Spartanburg. I know what some of you are thinking, "Really, this was the highlight of your January?" The answer is YES. The fact that this photo was taken at all should show you how excited I was to see snow for the first time in 2 years. You can take the girl out of Wisconsin...

February 2013

When you live in the Carolinas there are two things you have to do: 1. Yearly trip to the beach, and 2. Visit Biltmore. That could be completely false, but it makes me feel better to think that we crossed both of those off our list this year (sort of, we'll get to the beach part later). When it's a dreary day in February, what else is there to do besides go see the largest private residence in the United States?

March 2013

Well...things got ugly for the Wildcats so a month that we typically fill with keeping up with March Madness turned into a month of trying to keep ourselves too busy to notice the Cats weren't in the tournament. We found ourselves quite busy with all of our free time spent not watching basketball.

We hiked to this pretty spectacular waterfall.

We went to church with friends and then proceeded to crash their family's Easter dinner.
We went to Road Atlanta to see my brother while he was in town for a PCA race.

April 2013

All I can really say about April is that this happened....

We piled a ridiculous amount of people into the back of a pickup truck and went to watch some ponies run. No, it's not Keeneland, it's Steeplechase, and it's a pretty good time if you don't really plan on watching the races. Oh, and we won for best tailgate decor. Our whole spot was decorated as if we were at a Nascar race. Some of us even dressed the part!

May 2013

Matt got a much deserved promotion, and believe it or not, May marked the first major vacation we have ever taken with a group of friends. Where did we decide to go? VEGAS BABY! It was our first time and we had a blast celebrating our friend Brian's 30th birthday. Ten of us flew out to surprise him for a long (maybe too long) weekend of very innocent fun. Oh, and when we got back to South Carolina we learned how to shag.

One of my favorite pictures from the trip.
My college roommate and I enjoying dinner in Vegas.
Jordan arranged the trip for her boyfriend (now fiance) Brian.
Did I mention we went to Italy too? Just kidding. We did have fun walking through the Venetian though.
Surprise! While we were in Vegas Matt's brother Trey called and said he was driving through. We were able to meet up for lunch and luckily I remembered to snap this adorable photo.

June 2013

A major moment for us...we bought our first house! South Carolina has become home for us (at least for a while) and we couldn't be happier to finally be putting down some roots somewhere. Luckily we have the most amazing friends/families ever and had a lot of help moving in. We are (still) slowly making it our own. It was brand new construction and a blank slate, so it has been a process putting our own personal touches on it. We have a long ways to go but we are loving every second of the process!
Here she is, our very first house!

July 2013

Well, we spent the 4th of July running from storms on Lake Murray in Columbia, SC. It was surprisingly entertaining, while at the same time kind of terrifying. There were two other days in particular that stood out as awesome memories for me in July. One was something I have waited 20+ years for, and the other was something I've wanted to do since we moved to South Carolina.
Lake Murray, the calm before the storm.
A day I have been waiting 20+ years for! My great grandma's parlor grand piano is finally a part of my home.
BMW Performance Driving School. I spent a day driving fast cars that I will likely never be able to afford. (Matt didn't get to come, sorry babe!) It was fast, it was fun, and it was totally addictive!

August 2013

In news that makes you say "awwwww," Matt's youngest brother married his high school sweetheart on August 2nd. They were quite possibility the most adorable bride and groom to ever exist. Seriously, scroll down and see for yourself. Nothing else exciting happened in August.

JUST KIDDING.

Shortly after the wedding we found out that we were pregnant with our first Little Rowe! We are so excited to be starting our family. The little one will be here in April.

September 2013

We got to visit Charleston for the first time. The college I work for had a weekend full of events there, so we got to enjoy a long weekend in the city we have heard so much about since we moved here. It's a very unique place to visit, and we had a ton a fun. We never managed to make it to the beach, but we did manage to eat A LOT of awesome food and cheer Wofford to a football victory!

Sunset at Bowen's Island, one of the coolest atmospheres at any restaurant I've ever been to.
We spent our last day walking around Waterfront Park and the Battery. We saw a guy catch a "baby" Hammerhead shark right off the wall of the Battery. It was awesome, but slightly disturbing to see such a large shark in the Cooper River. I, for one, will probably not be swimming in any body of water in or around Charleston for a very long time.

October 2013

I celebrated my 28th birthday and we found out it's a....BOY!

November 2013

Matt celebrated his 27th birthday, we spent Thanksgiving with family, and we both started growing. He grew a beard, and I just continued to grow!

December 2013

Well we're only a few days into December, and thus far it hasn't been very eventful. Since I'm getting bigger by the day we will be staying home for Christmas this year. We plan to visit Wisconsin in January to see the Welsh family and have our first baby shower. Matt and I are really looking forward to 2014 and embarking on the exciting new journey of being parents. Hopefully we will get a chance to see some of you between now and this time next year. To all of our friends and family, we love you very much and are so grateful for the wonderful people God has blessed our lives with. We miss those of you we don't get to see often, but please know you are always in our thoughts!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

With Love,
The Rowes
